Aaron Neumann supports workers’ rights as human rights, from the right to decent work and freedom of association to equal opportunity and protection against discrimination. That’s why Aaron Neumann, as your State Representative for the Eastside, will fight for and support:
- Paid Family Leave - Current legislation (HF 5) would create a state-administered paid family and medical leave insurance program that would require Minnesota employers to provide employees with up to 12 weeks of paid leave benefits for qualifying family care and up to 12 more weeks for qualifying medical reasons per year.
- Statewide Paid Sick Leave – Current legislation (HF 11) would require that employees accrue a minimum of 1 hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
- Stronger Sexual Harassment Protections in the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA) - Current legislation (HF 10) provides that harassing conduct or communication (in the workplace and beyond) does not have to be “severe or pervasive” to be discriminatory sexual harassment under the MHRA.
- Restrictions on Employer Use of Social Media Account Information - Current legislation (HF 1196) will prohibit an employer from requiring or forcing an employee or applicant for a job to tell the employer their username or password to a social media account, to show the employer their social media account, to give the employer access by adding them as a friend or follower to a private account or require the employee to make an account public. It also prohibits an employer from taking negative action against an employee if they refuse to share social media information or refuse to hire an applicant for a job because they decline to share their social media information.
